More small adventures

Daddy won an award at work this week, so we celebrated by going out to dinner. Luc looooooooves to go out to dinner and was thrilled to skip out on whatever Mommy had planned for dinner that night. He scarfed up his grilled cheese and fries (crusts too!) in record time in order to earn himself a sundae. He was extremely pleased with himself. In the end, he ate all of the whipped cream and three bits of the ice cream. Just like his momma.

Luc's preschool class is working on art appreciation right now. They are learning about Van Gogh, and more recently, Jackson Pollock. I didn't actually hear this from Luc, but put two and two together when he requested a large shirt from Daddy because they were going to be splatter painting at school. He very importantly told me they were learning about great artists and I asked if they were learning about Pollock right now. He was very surprised to learn that I knew who he was and had seen some of the paintings. We'll post photos of the artwork when it comes home from school.

Science is cool!

Luc is quickly following in Daddy's geeky science footsteps. While at the zoo this weekend, Luc and Mommy stumbled on to Dr. Zoolittle's show in the children's zoo. Dr. Zoolittle wowed his small crowd by mixing ferric mumble mumble sulfate with something something something something to wondrous results. The two clear solutions instantly turned dark purple! Adding another something something solution broke the molecular bond and the mixture turned cloudy/clear again. Boy, did that guy have the attention of these kids now. This was magic as far as they were concerned. Dr. Zoolittle went on to demonstrate Bernoulli's Principle by knocking paper cups off kids' heads with puffs of air blown from a distance away. Luc went on to test the theory of gravity later in the day on a trampoline jumpy, also at the zoo.

Another fun weekend activity was Aunt Shanley's birthday. Luc was invited to the party where he attempted to eat a cupcake the size of his head (only managed to lick the frosting off though), played Wii, colored with Maxwell, and helped Aunt Shanley open all of her presents. He says he is practicing for his upcoming birthday.

Happy Valentime's Day!

That's not a typo up there... it's how Luc says Valentine's. We had a low key celebration with a special dinner at home (BBQ ribs from M&D with a nice zinfandel and mac 'n cheese for Luc with a nice berry sparkler).

Bottoms up boys!

Luc finished the night with a call to Grandma and Papa. His latest word is "fooey", so he and the grandparents exchanged "fooey heads", etc. This morning, I had a "fooey eyeball in my fooeyhead."

New Years Resolution

I know, you've heard it all before, but I really am going to try to be better about sharing life with Luc. I am going to shoot for shorter entries more often and see what happens.

Highlights since the last post (OK, sometime last summer) include a trip to Spain to see Mica and Avi, starting the second year of preschool, being a ring bearer in Auntie Sarah and Auntie Dan's wedding, Mica and Avi visiting for Christmas, and developing a serious interest in dinosaurs. His favorite word right now is "babyhead" followed closely by "cukcoo". Sometimes he goes for "Cukcoo on the Babyhead" for double word score.

Recent conversation with Luc regarding giving blood:
Luc: How do they get the blood out?
M&D: Reasonable explanation including needles.
Luc: Oh. Thinks for a minute. But how do they get it back in? You body is CLOSED.
M&D. Good point. Reasonable explanation including needles.
Luc: Why do people need blood?
M&D: Reasonable explanation including big owies, etc.
Luc: Hmmm. OK. But what happens to me since I gave my blood.
D: It's OK to give your blood. Your body makes more.
Luc: Looking suspicious. I do not make blood! I am BUSY all day! I go to school, I play, I don't make blood.
D: Sure you do. You do it in your bones.
Luc: Now shocked and downright peeved. There is nobody in my bones to make blood! I am too busy to make blood!
D: You just do it without thinking about it. Like breathing. You don't think about breathing, you just do it.
Luc: Immediately holds breath to test theory.

We are currently looking forward to a trip to Phoenix in March and Luc's 5th birthday coming up in May.
Last summer in Spain.
